Stars on Tap provides SMS notifications to restaurant owners and managers for critical business operations. This document outlines our consent collection and management practices.

Consent Collection Process

Explicit Opt-In Required: Users must actively check a consent box and click "Enable SMS Notifications" to receive text messages. SMS notifications are disabled by default and require explicit user action to activate.

How Consent is Obtained:

  1. Users log into their Stars on Tap management dashboard at https://www.starsontap.app
  2. Navigate to Account Settings → Notification Preferences
  3. The SMS consent form is displayed with the explicit language shown above
  4. Users must check the consent checkbox
  5. Users enter their mobile phone number
  6. Users click "Enable SMS Notifications" button
  7. A confirmation SMS is sent: "Stars on Tap: You have successfully opted in to SMS notifications. Reply STOP to opt-out anytime."
  8. Consent is recorded with timestamp, phone number, and IP address in our database

All SMS text messages are transactional business alerts only. We do NOT send marketing, promotional, or advertising messages.

Stars on Tap does not charge for SMS messages. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Contact your mobile carrier for details about your messaging plan.

1. Opt-In Confirmation (Required):
"Stars on Tap: You have successfully opted in to SMS notifications for your restaurant business. You will receive transactional alerts for time clock, scheduling, reservations, and inventory. Reply STOP to opt-out anytime. Reply HELP for assistance. Msg&Data rates may apply."

2. Employee Time Clock Alert (Late Arrival):
"Stars on Tap Alert: Employee John Doe clocked in 15 minutes late for scheduled 5:00 PM shift at Main Street Location. Current status: Active. View timesheet: https://starsontap.app/timeclock"

3. Employee Time Clock Alert (Missed Clock-Out):
"Stars on Tap Alert: Employee Sarah Smith has not clocked out. Shift ended at 10:00 PM, currently 10:45 PM. Please verify and adjust timesheet: https://starsontap.app/timeclock"

4. Schedule Change Notification:

5. New Reservation Alert:

6. Waiting List Update:

7. Inventory Low Stock Alert:

8. Employee Time Off Request:

9. System Maintenance Notice:
"Stars on Tap: Scheduled system maintenance tonight 2:00-3:00 AM EST. Your restaurant dashboard will be temporarily unavailable. No action required."

10. STOP Response (Required):
"Stars on Tap: You have been unsubscribed from SMS notifications and will not receive further messages. To re-enable SMS alerts, log into your dashboard at https://starsontap.app/settings"

11. HELP Response (Required):
"Stars on Tap SMS Help: You receive transactional business alerts for your restaurant operations. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. For support, email support@starsontap.app or visit https://starsontap.app. Msg&Data rates may apply."
